We don't often think of fall colors when looking at a rose but this one

has them. Thanks for looking and critiques are welcomed.

Beautiful floral work and with very well balanced exposure, the details are fine while the colors are crispy and vivid, the blurred background has well separated the main subject here and enhanced the appearance of the flower.

Thank you for sharing it and wishing you all of the best.

Hi Deanna,

Nice capture.

I would have shot it at F/4 and used ISO 200 at 1/250 second.

The image would have been even better defined , with a nice background, too. Using a 100mm lens at 1/250 second gives you a better margin for reducing vibration from any source. Moving back a bit would preserve the DOF needed on the subject, too.

Best Regards,  Mike

Never thought of it as hope and sadness but you are right. Hope the flowers will return next summer and sadness to see them leave for winter. Thank you, Deanna

I know better than to make excuses to someone with your knowledge but to me the softness works with the vivid colors and this was a tiny minature rose very close to the ground that I zoomed in on. Sometimes I envy the sharp crisp flower shots but for some unknown reason a slight blur works for me on this one. Maybe I just didn't want to go in and get my 105mm lens and tripod. Your advice is always considered for next time. Thanks Mike. Take care, Deanna

Really well spotted to find a rose with the fall or as we say in UK - Autumn colours. Your eye is lead into the centre of this rose which is nicely focused. Nice work. Warm regards. Sarah.

Wonderfully Warm - makes me think of a bear rug and a fireplace with the sound of cinders popping and burning.
