Hi Peter and Julio

Many thanks for your comments. Since I live in Australia, seeing the Northern Lights in Norway was exciting. It also prompted me to get to know the use of the manual mode more thouroughly and do some research on the lens I required before I left. If you do get to a place where the Northern Lights appear, then I urge you to go with a guide that is prepared to move the group of photo enthusiasts to locations where there are no clouds. There are such guides in Tromso, Norway.  I would also recommend a sturdy tripod that doesn't blow over in the wind, warm clothes and a torch so that you can see when you need to set up and adjust the tripod, lens and camera settings as you move to other locations.

Seeing the Northern Lights is a sight that you will never forget and worth every expense.

Cheers

Silvia
