helena_ludwig 0 Posted May 28, 2003 A great photo! I guess it would be even better, if the background would be more blurred. Link to comment
taner 3 Posted May 29, 2003 Hello I would appreciate your comments on this photo of a gypsy teen that I took in Istanbul last month. I first talked to him (his name is Gul - 'Rose' when translated to English) the day before I took this picture. He was together with two other teens, selling flowers at a street-stand. He is only 17 - almost everyone who looked at this picture immediately referred to him as 'man'. That makes me said. The background blur problem... Sadly, it is a limitation of my lens and budget. I did not have a chance to make better use of DOF in that setting. I took this photo with my Canon zoom lens, EF 28-105 3.5-4.5 USM. Knowing about the limitations of consumer zooms when used wide open, I stopped it down to 5.6 with this portrait, and hence, the lack of background blur. Gul's big smile simply makes me happy. I have some idea about the kind of poor, unprivilleged life must be living, and yet that big beautiful smile is there on his face. Looking at his photo is like a shot of magic happiness potion. Make it a drink. Cheers. Link to comment
barnnies 0 Posted May 29, 2003 I like this. The blur works for me (personal choice). The teen and his smile make it so that you don't even notice the background. Great shot! Link to comment
arashdejkam 0 Posted April 25, 2004 Definitely a perfect shot! I feel I'm in the scene every time I look at it. its the kind of shot that doesn't need me to review it's strong technical points in my mind over and over to enjoy it, it directly hits my aesthetics sensors ;) please keep posting Taner!
