.. I can only imagine the feed back I will get for this but let it rip ..

costructive criticism can only help : )

This is a pic of my best friend taken at the beach around 4 in the

afternoon, I left the contrast very low for this.... i kind of liked the "dull"

look for this .. idk ?/

As a candid image taken in a high contrast environment, I think you did a great job. Yes the highlights of her whit blouse are blown, but so what. You do not need any detail there.

A nice image that should print well. Congratulations.

I really like this image, Amy -- the exposure of the face is right on, and the composition and pose are very pleasing.  The only constructive criticism I can offer is to choose your point of focus carefully -- it looks to me like your friend's teeth are in sharper focus than her eyes.  (They're not out of focus per se, they're just not tack sharp, and the mouth looks a little sharper)  The eyes are almost always the spot a viewer instinctively looks for sharp focus.  At f1.8, the depth of field is very narrow, so if you want her eyes as sharp as they can be, that needs to be where you focus.   Other than that, super job!

......... Brookes and Peter have given very sound comments here. I find your friend to be a very attractive young lady and thought I'd just try to give a tad of glamour........ hope you don't mind.

Your original image is good and I too, like the soft, gentle approach of your capture.......... white, in the sun is always a difficult colour.

Well done here, to both of you.

Regards
