stp 6 Posted September 6, 2011 This is a gorgeous abstract, a rare way to see the planet. The main "artery" is an initial point of focus (and it even has some interesting texture and range of light), but there are also so many side channels full of color and different light intensities. What a great series! Link to comment
leo burkey 0 Posted September 6, 2011 I agree with Stephens comment, wonderful abstract, Jeff.. Link to comment

PeterKrenek 26 Posted September 6, 2011 Simply amazing, Jeff. I always wonder what you come up with next in the series and I am always thrilled. I'd be interested to know what the green "glow" in the main branch of the stream comes from. Do you have an idea ? P.S. The ratings are a weird thing. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted September 6, 2011 Thanks folks. I'm glad that there at least 4 people around who like shots like this. Personally, I love them, but I'm biased. I don't know when I'm going to stop putting these on PN. I have 125 possibles, and I'm sure that you would all be bored witless well before that.Peter, as I understand it, the colours come from metals - blue from copper, red from iron etc. As for others, no idea. Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted September 7, 2011 Jeff, Aren't the designs and shapes of nature magnificent? You have honed in on a winner here. Nice eye for seeing this and capturing a work of art. Regards. Larry Link to comment
color 3 Posted September 7, 2011 This is great, both an impressive nature shot and an abstract. The colors and curves are nice. Where did you get such a perspective? Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted September 7, 2011 Thanks Larry and Chuck. Nature does give us a wonderful spectacle. The only problem was that you needed to be at an altitude of 200 metres in a helicopter to see it. Link to comment
Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted September 7, 2011 Well, you saw it, and you captured it well, without a tripod. Knowing about the helicopter makes it even better for me. Larry Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted September 10, 2011 I don't know what type of strands these are, they have an organic feel, they are beautiful. I like the movement, like ripples in water. The colours are harmonious, they also seem to be aquatic, The lines and curves are elegant and graceful. Wonderful work! Best wishes, Linda Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted October 14, 2011 Just a few moments ago, I mentioned on one of Steven's sand dune images the fractal nature of organic structures and this image brings my thoughts back to the same place. I have always marveled at and enjoyed noting the similarity in natural forms no matter what the scale or substance. The underpinnings of the universe would seem to nudge form into certain designs. Steven's reference to the " artery' sums up my sense of this structure as it does look like a part of ones circulatory system.Strong composition and beautiful soft colour palette. A less gifted photographer would have been tempted to push those saturation and contrast sliders up and spoil the view. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted October 16, 2011 Thanks for the feedback, folks.Gordon, I see the artery strongly too. What I like about this image is the repetition of the arterial pattern in large and fine detail. This is one of my favourites from the trip. It i that wonderful organic look that works for me. It's funny that you mention Steve's dune shots, the similarity to these aerials had struck me too. From seeing the thumbnail, I felt that similarity. Link to comment
