Just think you could walk right through this field and be very colour co-ordinated : - ) But seriously I'm really pleased you could connect with this image, its what makes it all worthwhile.Best RegardsAlfALBERTOI'm very pleased you liked it. Thank You!Best WishesAlfARNAV Thank you so much for your detailed feedback and encouraging comments, I'm really pleased you liked it. I think the general consensus of opinion seems to be in favour of the moody clouds, but I still have my reservations regarding the processing.Best RegardsAlfNEILMany thanks for your feedback I appreciate your views and invaulable feedback. I still thinnk I may have overdone the clouds slightly. I might try another version in the future.Cheers NeilAlfTONYMany Thanks, I appreciate your kind words and vote of confidence, but I'm not sure that the editors chose this for anything, I just uploaded it to the monthly theme.Cheers TonyAlfTIBINothing quite like a bit of drama eh! : - )I'm still a bit uncertain about the sky, but it seems popular so despite my personal reservations I conclude I must be doing something right. Sincere Thanks for your interest and positive feedback.Best RegardsAlf Link to comment
3m 0 Posted September 17, 2011 An impressive stage set up for some real drama in the sky....I too like your down the middle composition as it focusses so strongly (amidst this ' advancing column ' of hay bales) on that impressive sky. It should come as no surprise to you that I also like Dror's square suggestion as it feels a bit less ' regimented '... :-) However, I would then surely keep a generous area of the FG visible (to show details & depth). Anyway, as I said, Alf, your approach here is strong -- & it sure has impact..! Link to comment
alfbailey 4 Posted September 18, 2011 Many thanks for your invaluable feedback and idea's. Dror is a great photographer and makes some excellent suggestions, I just hope he changes his mind about leaving PN! I see rectangles and you see squares : - ) but i guess thats what makes things more interesting, trying to see things as others do. Maybe theres room for two portraits, but alas no matter how I try the other possibilities, its landscape format that wins for me on this one. I'm pleased you can connect with the "impact" that was the kind of reaction I hoped to achieve, I wasn't quite sure if I'd overcooked it though.Cheers Marjolein!Alf Link to comment
bela_dick 1 Posted September 18, 2011 Hello AlfI like this. I like this because of the strong endless lines leading to the horizon. Well seen. The dramatic clouds is a super contrast to the precise lines on the ground.Kind regardsBela Dick Link to comment

patrickwells 2 Posted September 19, 2011 I thought I never was going to find the last comment.Anyway I like this shot the colors and tones are fantastic . Did you pay the farmer to arrange the bales this way :) your use of the straw and the use of the straight lines of the stubble to draw the eye in to the mean looking sky works wellCongratulations on another great shotPat Link to comment
birteragland 1 Posted September 19, 2011 Perfectly executed shot, could not be better. Link to comment
sarah_mcnulty 5 Posted September 19, 2011 Hi Alf.Very atmospheric work. You really do find some outstanding places to photograph. Love the moody sky and the fact you are being lead between the haybayles towards that sky! Wonderfully seen, captured and exposed!Best regards. Sarah Link to comment
alfbailey 4 Posted September 19, 2011 PATRICKSincere Thanks for your interest and invaluable feedback. I happened upon these scene quite by accident, I was looking for hay bales, but had been driving for about 2 hours and hadn't seen any that were accessible. Then I just happened to see the farmer collecting these together to load onto trailers. I guess if the farmer thought he could get away with it he would have charged me to photograph his field : - ) .......But seriously he was a very accomodating guy, and he let me wander around freely. I'm really pleased you liked this one Patrick.Best RegardsAlfBIRTE Many thanks for your kind words and vote of confidence, much appreciated. And yes I will remember to change my profile introduction, soon, very soon : - )Best RegardsAlfSARAHThank you so much for your interest and kind comments. I struggled to find this place, I had been driving for around the Shropshire countryside for over 2 hours and hadn't seen anything remotely interesting that had anything to do with Harvest. Most fields had been cut and it looked like I had missed the boat untill I came across this field. I was particularly fortunate that the hay bales were gathered together for loadingCheers Sarah!Alf Link to comment

alfbailey 4 Posted September 29, 2011 Sincere Thanks for your interest and positive feedback. I was very fortunate to happen upon this field just as the farmer was gathering the bales together prior to loading onto transport. I guess sometimes you just get lucky.Best RegardsAlf Link to comment
Alex 0 Posted September 30, 2011 Alf I would not call it heavy handed, is it dark? yes, but it does the job very well and it does not clash with the ground at all. I love the crisp details and the saturated colors.Just another fantastic image from you.RegarsAlex Link to comment
alfbailey 4 Posted October 1, 2011 Many Thanks for your interest and positive feedback, very much apprecited! I gave the image a slightly warmer tone, and darkened the clouds, I'm really pleased you liked the effects. The crisp corner to corner sharpness is courtesy of the Nikkor 14 - 24mm f2.8 lens, fast becoming one of my favourites.Cheers Alex!AlfYANNIKGood to hear from you, I hope you are keeping well. Funtak 0 Posted October 3, 2011 Powerful perspective, well chosen focal point, duo-tonal, golden-hour reflections, above all u managed to create a space between the field and the sky. Excellent work. Best regards, vf Link to comment

The composition was I suppose somewhat experimental as I hadn't encountered a scene like this before, but it seems to have worked.Best RegardsAlfANABELA Sincere thanks for your vote of confidence, I'm really pleased you like this one.
