I wish the car hadn't been in the shot, but you have to make do, sometimes.  I'd consider doing some closer shots with a house like that, as I think the appeal is in the peeling paint that would give an abstract effect when shot as a close-up.  I'd also do individual windows and "pieces" of the building, including the brick at the bottom.

Thanks, Kim.  I know you're right.  I went down this street to shoot a big grain silo, saw the house, and shot it from across the parking lot and street.  At the time I didn't feel that it was worth the time or trouble to ask the owners to let me shoot it from a lot of angles, but maybe I should have--and perhaps I should have asked them to move the truck as well.  (The vehicle works better on a monochrome shot, I think.)

Lannie:  I love this type of photo.  Peeling paint on a old house adds so much character.  The only way you could improve this photo, IMHO is get the owner to move the car.  How have you been?  Tom

Hi Lannie,

Nice shot !

I had to remove the car after I read Tom Wiggins' comment.

I, too enjoy old houses with peeling paint, etc.....................

Best Regards,  Mike

Beautiful old house. I like the way you have composed it. The car IMO adds modernism and juxtaposing  another time era....
