I welcome critique here, especially on how I could crop this. I

wasn't able to figure out any crop that I liked...maybe this is the

best go. Don't know what category this should be in. This barn has

been painted like this as long as I can remember and the years have

faded it nicely...I like it best now that it has faded to pastels.

Please forgive my amateurish efforts.

It would be difficult to improve the crop as currently it shows two facades of the building in different light, thus allowing a better view of the nice pastels you mentioned. The only obvious crop would be a vertical crop from the corner of the building, but I would be reluctant to do that for all of the afore mentioned reasons. However if the barn is local to you it might be worth trying a different composition. Maybe a frame filling, end on view with those nicely weathered doors in the positioned bottom right. But I would take the shot in less harsh  light conditions if possible, early morning or late evening. Its a lovely building and worth the effort. Nice work Heather!

Best Regards

Thank you Pierre and Alf.  I appreciate the encouragement and the ideas I hadn't thought of, like taking the photo in different lighting or taking the shot from other angles...I do go to the area it is in on weekends.  It will be fun to take on as a project.

I would level horizontally (careful to not go too much or it will take off the roof) since the road looks like its going downhill which it may very well be, but if it was a bit more level I think it would help with the left side of the photo perhaps taking out a bit of the awning. Secondly the colors are unique on a barn, I would use the clarity slider and a bit more saturation to bring out detail in the color. Very interesting subject and I would be there often if I had the chance since it offers up alot of possibilities.

Hi Lynn...thank you so much.  It does look much nicer.  I see once you'd evened the barn out what you'd meant about leveling it.  thanks for showing me.  the colors definitely deserved to be more saturated too.  I drive by this barn twice a week so I can try different angles.  I have a couple close ups of the side with the side door and the stone, but there is no good focal point.  I need a little kitten to sit in front of it! I really appreciate your help.
