Hi Deanna,

A nice image, indeed.

Since you focus was more the central part of the plant , you lens would have delivered to you much more definition from F/2.8 to F/4, rather than using F/8. There really was no need to try to extend any DOF, becuase the  strength of the Nikkor macro (as any excellent macro) are the vivid details that these lens are designed to provide when used at their maximum aperture.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am anxious to try them. This shot was of the entire flower and I cropped to the center which explains the f/8 setting. It will be a fun challenge to capture the center of this flower with more definition using f/2.8 to3.5. Learning by doing and with advice from P.N friends is working for me. Take care, Deanna
