SOLITUDE Atlantic Puffin

A calm day on the Saint Lawrence during my recent Puffins Galore and

so much more workshop. If you read the techs, you might ask why I was

at ISO 800 - easy answer; it allowed a shutter speed of 1/3200s to

freeze the action I knew would come when it took-off - that image is

for another time.

great capture Chris. I always enjoy viewing your work. on the technical side of things, and forgive my ignorance here, why did you choose f/6.3 rather than the lens's widest aperture of f/5.6 since shutter speed was one of your priorities in this shot?

Art: I stopped down 1/3 stop from the widest aperture, because I had achieved a fast enough shutter speed and wanted that little bit more depth of field. Hope this helps.

A good choice on the stopdown for dof.  Beautiful colors set off by the open bg.

So perfect it almost looks fake!  Nice color and detail and love the blurred reflection in the water.
