I am trying to improve my skills and this has been a great source of

help. I personally think the stairs are a big drawback here, but

this is where the picture happened, and I couldn't do much about it.

This was as narrow a DOF I could get. I would appreciate the

thoughts of the group on how this could be better.

I like the stairs. I don't know why. Usually the a background with so much distraction is just that, distraction. In this case it gives the photo a 3D effect because the child is, by appearance, practically on the lens :) Good shot.

The stairs are good! The child has a very thoughful look on his face and especially in his eyes. You look at him and wonder what it is he sees or what he is thinking so hard about, and then you notice the stairs lead right into his eyes, into his mind.
