Little house on the Prairie, liberality. I just could not pass this one up. I

generally crop in tight, this one I tried to leave open. Am I too far away?

Thanks for your comments.

The clouds give a strong directional thrust to this photo and it needs something to stop the eye leaving the frame right ...I think the dark blue sky does this better than the mostly white cloud bank.  So I suggest that you mirror the shot and see how you like it then.

Composition is impeccable.Just a classic, timeless image. The big sky reminds me of that classic Americana picture by Feininger(? too lazy to look up) of the Texaco station along the side of the road in the '30s.

the problem i see is that it looks like you set the clarity/contrast/saturation too high, giving it an unnatural look, especially the clouds.

Might be worth starting over with the editing. Less can be more when it comes to postprocessing. It is also a prime candidate for black and white.

I agree with Ray, the composition is just right. The area of the house takes up the correct amount of space within the frame and the "Big Sky" looks appealing and gives a great sense of space. In summary you were right to leave this one wide open. Some attention to the colour though, as it does appear surreal, perhaps just a tweak to de-saturate slightly.

Best Regards

Alf

Thank you guys for your comments. It is funny, I used a polorizer filter and it darkens the sky so much that I actually had to unsaturate it. Never had to do that before. I will take another stab at it and leave it untouched.

I like the dark blue in the sky. The light blue streak is what looks a little out of place. The dark blue helps the house stand out. I like this viewed larger.
