robert_speirs 0 Posted May 13, 2003 Tremendous colours i like the water droplets which give a freshness to the foliage and the pastel background nice open aperture.. Link to comment
kezia 0 Posted May 13, 2003 The lovely subtle colours were what first caught my eye here. Very nice. Link to comment
dmitry_gringauz 0 Posted May 13, 2003 Good fotograph and original framing. You might want to try to bring out the reds in the flower a bit, to catch viewer's eye. Link to comment
val_shcherbakov 0 Posted May 14, 2003 Beautifull picture. Love everything about it. But must agree with Dmitry. I would put a little spot light on a red flower to bring attention to it. Green leaves are brighter and bigger so they are catching attention. I think red flower should... Link to comment
scott bulger 0 Posted May 14, 2003 Fairly flat lighting and colors. I like the composition, and the shallow DOF, but this needs better light and more contrast to be truly effective. Link to comment
jimmcnitt 0 Posted May 14, 2003 Hi Nabil: I understand Scott's point, but I also think the soft lighting is effective here. Interestingly, the green leaves dominate visually and the eye is only gradually drawn to the Shootingstar (I assume that's the name of the flower). But this redolent visual progression seems to match the mood perfectly. My only quibble is the light green outline around the green leaves and a slight red halo around the shooting star. These are probaby the result of feathering the selection of the leaves when you blurred the background. But on second thought, if someone isn't looking for PS clues, these actually add to the softfocus/softlight mood of the image! How's that for equivocal? Link to comment
donpaulson 0 Posted May 14, 2003 I love the photo, but the title may be misleading if it refers to the type of flower. This flower is a columbine (Aquilegia) rather than a shootingstar (i.e. Dodecatheon). Link to comment
photomd 0 Posted May 14, 2003 Thank you all for your comments. They were really helpful. Thank you Don for correcting my mistake. Anna, your comment was of great significance to me. Jim, you're smart and have hawk-eyes. Link to comment
vincetylor 0 Posted May 14, 2003 I do like the colors and composition. The sharpness could be improved just a bit to give this a 7 or two. Still very nice! Link to comment
