Donna Stavis 0 Posted June 4, 2011 Pnina, this must have been difficult to watch. Powerful shot indeed. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted June 4, 2011 Thanks! I was busy and did not have the time to write a preface, It is a play written by Luigi Firandelo ( born in Sicily 1867-1936), the play is called "Evening improvisation",and is interesting and well played. The main actress is Hadas Hirshfeld the man's name I'm not sure( where 5 man in the cast. She played her role very well (all of them really ). Many parts of life and human relation were in this play, yes, some parts were hard to watch, as violence in real life. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted June 4, 2011 The right way to spelle the writer's name is" Luigi Pirandello ( and not Firandelo as I wrote) also the name in English is :Tonight we improvise.... sorry for the translation from Hebrew.... Link to comment
adan1 0 Posted June 5, 2011 A very poignant shot that is direct and very expressive. The agony and pain on her face is brilliantly captured and the aggressive manner that she is held and spoken to is quite evident. Abuse and violence does not have to be physical. Verbal ones are just as damaging. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted June 5, 2011 Thanks both of you. Adan, your impression fits mine seeing the scene. Violence can be exactly as you have stated, and still as an actress she displayed it very well and touching. Link to comment
tonyfrench 0 Posted June 5, 2011 Pnina, I like the closeness to reality that you've captured here (though to me it feels more like Albee than Pirandello), something you don't see often in theatre photography. The way you've shown the conflict is excellent with the focus on her face and the movement of her hair and his profile showing his open mouth. Stylistically very different from the other images of this play, though that may be part of the way the it is written. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted June 7, 2011 Tony, Andrea and Bob.I appreciate your comments.Tony, i have uploaded only one scene but this scene has a "process"... I will upload a previous one to let you and others to see the development....Thanks again. Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted June 8, 2011 These actors.......so true to life, yet sad. It does exist, I've seen too much of it, and my daughter is going through it now...........the answers aren't easy when children are involved and the 'law' so many things to deal with.Great shot....on a very prevalent and sad subject. Warm regards, Gail Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted June 8, 2011 I'm still in California and haven't had much time to visit photonet recently but I'm glad to see you're holding the fort in my absence. I'll be back in Osaka in less than a week and probably relieved to be home. I always feel like I need a vacation when I return from vacation. I guess I just don't travel that well nowadays. I really like this picture. You've captured the emotion of the scene very well. Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted June 9, 2011 I think the hand tells more than the faces. It's clawed, self-protective, and very expressive. The warm orange light offsets the blue shadows nicely. It's an intense picture, and I'm glad it's a scene from a performance and not real-life. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted June 10, 2011 Gail, Yes, that why it spoke to me as working in "another life"...in a hospital I saw so much of it, and you see it less, so strong close to life, in a theater .I wish your daughter will be fast after the pain.Jack, return safely home, and take photo of Japanese life,I'm sure though that your camera was busy in SF as well..Thank for your hello from there.Jeff, thanks, I'm glad as well it is a theater scene, we see enough of it in everyday life( see my answer to Gail).
