Hi Ian,

A wonderful shot.

When I first say the right eye "white area", I thought that you used a flash that reflected from it. I saw that no flash fired, so it must be the Sun.

This dragonfly is ideally placed (perpendicular to your focus plane) that you could have developed much more detail by using F/5.6 rather than F/11. The background would have been a bit more tame, too.

While the ISO 400 is fine, another benefit from using F/5.6 was that ISO 100 could have been used or ISO 200 with 1/500 sec shutter speed.

I have noted that you use a pre-set of F/11 a lot, and that is fine because you have developed a comfortable system for shooting dragonflies. However, there are times that making adjustments to your settings will result in improved performance.

Best Regards,  Mike
