not THAT origanal. Galen Rowell took a shoot very similiar. almost the same exact light and composition.

Jason - Fantastic action in the water.  Very dramitic use of negative space, but a little too much for my taste.  Very difficult lighting to capture without going toward HDR.  The midground looks too blocked up for me.  I can't offer any suggestions for improvement, it's a great high contrast image.  I might have shot under more subdued lighting to capture some midground detail, perhaps just before sunrise.
