gooseberry 0 Posted May 14, 2011 It's a matter of taste and I often find myself torn apart between lightening up shadows in order to show more detail, and keeping them dark and more "moody." Here my impression is that there is an insufficient contrast between light and dark areas, which makes it look unnatural: one would expect greater dynamic range (the impression is stronger when viewed Large).Other than that, well done! harrylichtman 0 Posted May 16, 2011 Carl - Very interesting beach sculpture. I would agree about the earlier coment regarding the shadows - Look a little too opened up and a tad noisy ( in the large view). I'm still trying to figure out if that is a a water reflection in the FG or smooth sand. The sand is a lovely tone. I also noticed that the edges of the wreck on the left at the horizon line look a tad darker compared to the surrounding wood, perhaps from a ND filter or blending? Looks a little tight on the left - I can see why you didn't want to loose any sky in the upper right. Link to comment

lalit 0 Posted May 17, 2011 Wow! This is a great shot, with all those wonderful sky colors, long enough exposure to show the clouds movement and softening the waters in the foreground. The angle chosen for this unusual foreground and adding it in this shot is great piece of artistic decision. I believe a little bit of higher contrast to the foreground structure would be rather good to remove the softness there. But otherwise no other critique. Congratulations! Link to comment
