I'm a budding photographer who is just looking for some critique. I

will be investing in a "real" camera soon, but this is from a

point-and-shoot.

With a point and shoot there are at least two ways to get a perfectly exposed picture in an occasion like this here! Either fill in flash, night portrait or pointing the camera to the man, pressing the release button half way and recomposing and shooting with the shutter release button pressed half way while recomposing! The results will be different to some extent, but the man will be properly exposed and sharp in all three ways! I had descent equipment for film when I went to Prague only with point&shoot camera and I have great pictures, some of them taken in very difficult occasions!

Warm regards Kenneth!

A nice idea and approach, and what Pierre says is helpful. What happens here is that my eyes go up toward the lighter background and can't really focus on the man, who is dark, and a bit out of focus. You may want the man to be handled with more mood and not perfect light, but he seems to need a little more to really capture my interest and focus. I like the way the big rock on the right acts like his companion.
