kathleen_bennett1 0 Posted May 5, 2003 First of all: "Awwwwwwwwwwwww!" That said, this is a great shot for a beginner. Definitely rises above "snapshot" quality. The balanced composition (basically two triangles separated along a SW/NE diagonal) provides a nice framework for breaking the "rule of thirds" putting the dog's face in the middle. Very nice exposure captures detail in both the fur and the grass. It would have been better if the point of greatest focus had been on the eyes - pay attention to that in the future. I look forward to seeing more of your dog photos! Link to comment
larry_mobbs 11 Posted May 5, 2003 I like your picture. The Golden Retriever is probably the prettiest animal on the planet but part of that beauty is the full configuration. This animal will give you great prints if you take advantage of it's beauty. Sunny backlighting will highlight the coat and show off the feathering. A lower angle of view will show off the body shape if the background isn't a problem. If you're up close the face has to be the focus of the picture. But don't be afraid to back up and show off the whole dog. Link to comment
