Hi Elise:

I appreciate your intention here. The top 2/3 and bottom 1/8 of this photo look great to me and tell a very unusual tale, especially with that spot of color.

It's the part above the bottom detail that I think needs addressing.  For my taste, there's too much space without detail.

If you post-process your work, I would try two different approaches to improving the results: selectively enhance the contrast in that area or remove it, condensing the photo into a narrower presentation that may be an untraditional size but that tells a coherent story.

There is some detail on the very right side that you might be able to relocate.
