I suppose this is a good enough example of what can be achieved with long exposures when there is some colour in the sky. Small aperture, low light, and colour, the three things should bring interesting results against any fixed feature where there is water: - Rocks, stones, posts, even beached boats, it's worth experimenting.Warm RegardsAlf Link to comment
aggiusti 72 Posted April 11, 2011 Well composed, of course. Very nice pink-blue contrast. Best regards, Antonio Link to comment

So many times I find the colours more intense after the sun dissapears below the horizon.Best WishesAlfPNINAJust the soothing sound of the waves as they lapped the shore and the ocassional cry of a seagull making its way home. mario2 0 Posted July 19, 2011 In my opinion it's a beautiful image, I like your manner to frame the scenery and it composition, maybe if I took this image, i would like to fix a bit the right vignette effect...About the tones I like this palette with this touch of softness, but I'm not sure if this blue dominant in these rolling stones is to much or only a bit, because I'm not in front of a monitor calibrated ...Best regards and nice image. alfbailey 4 Posted July 19, 2011 Sincere Thanks for your interest and your positive feedback, much appreciated. The vignetting I think is mainly due to the position of the sun to the left as it had just sunk below the horizon, similarly the colour gradation owes its values to the same natural element.Cheers Mario!Alf Link to comment
mario2 0 Posted July 20, 2011 Yes Alf,the vignette effect is due to the position of the sun,PhotoShop has a tool to fix this topic, if you want ;-)Regards Link to comment
alfbailey 4 Posted July 22, 2011 Many thanks for the information, much appreciated. Personally I quite like vignetting on this particular shot, it kind of allows a "cameo" type view of the scene. I think there is a Vinette Control tool in "Lightroom" too that seems effective.Best RegardsAlf Link to comment
malmer 0 Posted November 19, 2012 Hello Alf,A magnificent picture with a rare beauty. The colors are out of this world, the water very soft indeed and the pebbles tack sharp. A masterpiece which I would like to see in a much larger version.best regards Per Link to comment
alfbailey 4 Posted November 20, 2012 Sincere thanks for your inspirational comments, very much appreciated. These days I do tend to upload my images much larger than this one, as I know how much I enjoy seeng other peoples work in a larger format. Maybe I will do another version of this or a similar image taken on the same evening in a larger upload size.Best Regards Alf Link to comment
