GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted March 25, 2011 I only put this in the Critique Forum so my I could share a few words with my friends who 'visit' often, and have expressed their concern and sent so many Prayers my way for Mom. She is in her last 'days' or could be 'hours'. Her liver is not functioning, they are not giving her IV fluids, (told me it would prolong the inevitable). This is very hard for me to see. But last night Mom was pretty bright eyed when I visited. After Dad had gone home to be with his thoughts, I stayed behind. I encouraged her to drink some water and almost knowingly she complied, and 'blew bubbles' from the straw...just to get me to laugh I think'. I did what I cold to make her comfortable, and then we watched a couple of shows on the TV to pass some time before she would fall asleep. She didn't nod off at all. She encouraged me to go home and rest, probably knowing I wouldn't sleep at all. Although I know I must, just can't. I would like to thank all of you who have sent your prayers across many oceans through this Medium of Photo.Net. Amazing what you can do, even while sharing your Photos here. We are not just Photographers, we are a Community who care for one another, and are saddened when one of our own is experiencing 'life's troubles' that so many have already experienced. It is the sharing of these experiences that has helped hold me up, and I pray 'make me strong' for my Mom, and of course my Dad and Brothers. I have not experienced the loss of a parent (inlaws that I loved), but not my Family. The closest I have come is loosing someone I have loved besides Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles, is my first Dog Hayley, and that was hard enough. When I get 'down and lonely' I will have Abbey to hold and love, and I know I will always have those of you who have shown such tenderness, thoughtfulness and gone out of your way to write me, or leave an encouraging word or inquiry on my pages. God Bless You, and thankyou for being such dear friends, HERE ON PHOTO.NET......................most sincerely, Gail Link to comment

GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted March 30, 2011 Thankyou for sharing your experience Liz, we had a real good talk and 'cry' today, I don't know why she is still here, it is really getting to her emotionally, her pain level could be much worse, but she only takes sips of water, no appetite. My Dad had 4 stents put in his heart on Monday, he is fine, home and today I think she was really worried about him....she was missing his presence terribly. She becomes more fragile every day, and is too hard to watch. Today is first time I broke down in front of her. But it was good. All of her children have visited except my brother out West. She seemed comforted by visits and phone calls. Her Birthday was today, so perhaps she is hanging on worried about Dad....it must be so difficult for her also, as her mind is still pretty sharp. Today will be difficult. Thankyou for 'advice', truly appreciated, Gail Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted March 30, 2011 I told Mom that today, she will never be farther away than my heart, where our 'memories' have safe harbour. Emotional day. Thankyou always for your concern, Gail Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted March 30, 2011 Thankyou for preparing me for what is to come, I don't know how I will react, but my mind and body is so weary, watching what is happening to her is too hard, I pray she is 'set free' soon, thankyou dear Subha, Gail Link to comment
