I like the soft diffuse lighting used in this photo. In my limited experience I find this is the best kind of natural light for flower photography. A soft overcast beats a bright sunny day every time.

 

Don't be afraid to aggressively crop to eliminate areas that have no visual interest. And there is no rule that says you need to only use the same aspect ration (3:2) as captured by the camera. For me, this photo looks much better cropped in a 1:1 square format. And a touch of sharpening in post will add just a bit of snap to the blossoms that are in focus.
