Yes there is some posterization although I'm not sure if that's from my "calibrated" monitor, or the image. Nevertheless, this is a splendid image with fantastic tones. A simple, elegant and beautiful composition. Love all the leading lines to the peak on the left.

I think it's scalloping rather than posterisation, but it's a similar concept.  You've increased the contrast enough to make the boundary between two areas of slightly different luminance visible.  Shooting raw files would probably make the scalloping less visible because there are much finer gradations of tone in the underlying representation of a raw file.  It's also best to do as much as you can in the raw converter, and then to perform any other transformations in 16-bit space, finally converting to 8-bit before you save.  When you increase the contrast, you won't create such a localised boundary.  best, j
