Hello Alf,

Just stopped by to see if you had anything new.  You just keep doing it (posting incredible images).  Super detail and color as always.  Can't add much to what has already been said.  I would like to add an observation that I have seen throughout your work.  That is your use of leading lines even when they don't seem obvious.  In this case the hillside of the left (as well as the branch running parallel to it) bring my eye to the tree.  From the right, the lines come from the treeline and clouds.  In both cases the reflection of the hill and clouds again lead to the island.  From the bottom, the grass on the left actually connects with the reflecton of the tree once again  bringing me to the island.  Everyone else may not agree but that is the way it seems to me.  In any case this in another great shot.  Thanks for sharing.

Cheers...

Jerry

Sincere thanks for your visit, and kind words. I used a "High Pass" filter sharpening technique on this image, the information was kindly passed to me by another PN member, and i'm very pleased with the results.

LESTER

I really appreciate you taking time to share your thoughts and positive feedback. Reflections seem to be my fascination at the moment, but then most of my images feature water in some guise or other, something we have in common I think : - ) Many thanks Lester!

Sincere thanks for stopping by and taking time to offer such positive comments, very much appreciated. The colour in the foreground grasses was something I wanted to capture, and the ND grad filter seem to accentuate thier presence even more. The water itself was like glass one minute then wind rippled the next, it was just a case of waiting for the right moment.

Cheers Tony!

Good to hear from you, I hope you are keeping well.

Your observations are very astute, as leading converging lines and light are something I do try to aim for. It's not always possible to get everything text book perfect as you will have read from my foreword and comments, but I guess thats just the challenge of landscape photography, and if I'm honest, if it all came too easilly, it would soon lose it's appeal. Every shot is a new challenge and an opportunity to learn something new, about the camera, the processing, the composition, the lighting, it''s a limitless learning curve. This little island tree was begging to be photographed......but getting the composition any where near what I wanted was a struggle.

Sincere thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts Jerry, much appreciated!

Hi Alf,  beautiful details and golden touches in the sky and water.   I haven't yet read the comments, but I read your lament about the tree reflection.   I wonder if someone suggested cloning out the clump of grass on the left...I was thinking it would make an opening, path for the viewer to observe the scene, be a part of it.

Its a stunning landscape...one of the very best I have seen. The colour, clarity, inclusion of both foreground & background elements...everything seems perfect.7/7. Sincere regards.

Your thoughtful choice of camera point makes the difference, between a nice and an outstanding landscape. This really stands out for its order and simplicity, beauty and harmony. I love the fact that the lone tree follows - or hugs - the mountain shape, as said above. The beautiful light and the clean crisp color and detail lets me want to be there, it has enough emotional impact to leave a long lasting impression. A possible alternative could have been a longer FL and darker reflection, excluding the foreground grass (not sure about that, of course)

Many thanks for stopping by and shatrng your thoughts, much appreciated!

Your suggestion would be the ideal solution to my original dilema, but in practical terms almost impossible to carry out with any chance of keeping the image looking authentic and natural. Not that I mind a digitally altered image, but not to the extent of compromising it's authenticity to the degree it would require in cloning out that amount of the image. In addition, it would require PP skills way above my capabilities in order to re-create the trees reflection, once the clump of grass had been removed. Great Idea.....Just wish I had that level of skill to carry it out : - )

Cheers Donna!

Many Thanks for your thoughtful and in depth analysis. You picked up on the main strong point of my composition (Mountain side hugging tree), it was the part I didn't want to sacrifice in favour of other possibilites, although I did take a few other shots, none were as effective as the couple I took from this particular perspective. Your alternative suggestion is interesting, but I'm not sure it would work...........you've given me something to think about though.

Marvellous shot Alf.  I love the way that the eyes lead in naturally from the left, and also the tufts of grass at the front.  The lighting is superb,  the delicate branches of the trees give that final, but invaluable, touch.

I feel a bit of trepidation in commenting, mate, because others have said it so very well.

Hearty congratulations !

Alf, I see I am slow to "come to the party" here. Boy, I love this image. You've got powerful tonal elements and interest here. I could sit and stare at this scene all day.

Your contribution is more than welcome and equally well communicated. My sincere thanks for your encouraging comments, much appreciated. It was indeed those tree branches that held the initial attraction for me also Jim.

Many thanks for stopping by, I'm really pleased you liked this one. I seem to remember thinking the light was a bit flat when I took the shot, the histogram told me otherwise, and the processing brought out the best of it I think.

Took me an hour to arrive here...and everything was said so many times. I will add that I like the light , the tree form on the strong green small island, and the aesthetic in general. Nice calm landscape with beautiful details.

I hadn't actually thought of it in terms of a Japanese Painiting, but now you come to mention it I can appreciate where you are coming from with that analogy.

My Sincere thanks for your visit and positive feedback.

I am obviously way late to the party on this photo Alf but this is simply wonderful. An excellent landscape. I am a sucker for reflections and this one most certainly obliges my thirst for landscapes with reflections. My favorite of all your landscape photos and that is saying something since you have some excellent landscapes here.

Sincere Thanks for your heartwarming and enthusiastic feedback, very much appreciated!

I am a sucker for reflections too, but this current year we have experienced a lot of windy weather in the UK that has curtailed my never ending search for reflections, (though there were a few exceptions I managed to find).

I'm really pleased you liked this one, it was a shot I struggled with liking orginally and it was destined for the recycle bin, but saved when a friend advised me to "let the audience decide" .....Suffice to say I'm glad I did.

My own personal favourite image is another one in my Landscapes portfolio titled "Dreams of Tranquility" You might like that one too as ticks the boxes regarding reflections.

Thanks again Joseph!

Best Regards

Alf
