Pierre Dumas 268 Posted February 18, 2011 I find necessary to explain that the theme here is the compromise madeby the Orthodox Church with some pagan customs in order to attractmore new believers who were originally pagans! It was in thebeginning of the Christianity! Thank you for your attention dearcolleagues!PDE Link to comment

cosminalba 0 Posted February 18, 2011 Hi PierreI love the symbolism you've chosen. And yes. you're right, the christians at the begining have used the pagan elements. Lately they turned into symbols of christianity. For example the cross.Excellent composition and story. Congratulations.Best regards my friend. Cosmin Link to comment
JamieK 1 Posted February 18, 2011 I know so little of these religious issues - I wouldn't have gotten it. The nearly achromatic element in the foreground is striking, though - a decisive compositional choice. j Link to comment

dabar 0 Posted February 18, 2011 Ah my friend, you have created another masterfully conceived work-of-art. The tides of time and change are buffeting a number of religions today. I recently read that the Buddhist hierarchy was questioning the relevance of their beliefs and practices in the modern world. The winds-of-change bring both fresh air and old dirt...Your insight and outlook are both evident in this fine image! Link to comment
morophaenixmau 22 Posted February 18, 2011 Qui c'è un po' di tutto di te: un surrealismo semplice ma profondo, il tutto su quel bellissimo tramonto sul mare! Bravo Pierre, una volta di più... Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted February 19, 2011 Very well thought out and presented Pierre. You make a bold statement. Kind regads, Gail Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 268 Posted February 19, 2011 Dear Gail, it's not likely to be considered a bold statement, in my country which is with persuasively dominating Orthodox religion there are still customs, relics, songs which date from the pagan periods and the church doesn't discourage believers to practice those customs! And it is a well known fact! After all it is a well known fact also that the Romans accepted Christianity for political reasons and they remained warriors which I must state that is against the basics of the Christian teaching!Thank you for your comment, very much appreciated!PDE Link to comment

amalsircar 2 Posted February 19, 2011 Pierre, interesting creative work. Your introductory note helps me to appreciate the image. I am curious to know meaning of these items , except the Church. The foreground look attractive against background of sea ,sun & sky. Link to comment

Pierre Dumas 268 Posted February 19, 2011 Thank you for your visit Ruud, Masa, A.K. and Mumtaz!A.K. These special kind of pumpkins are some kind of relics in the house of my cousin who declares as great Christian, I guess others have them too and the column under the pigeon is from the Roman times found in either the ancient town of Scupi or in Justiniana Prima (that's on the same place which is now the capital of my country, my home town)! And they all represent the pagan in coexistence with the Christian, as simple as that, ha!Mumtaz, welcome to my portfolio for the first time and thank you for your visit, I hope you will come again!PDE Link to comment

Can you elaborate a bit for us religiously ignorant red neck types? ;-) Cool work Pierre! All the best,Neil Link to comment
