eerie and beautiful.  Really, really enjoy the form and texture of the lake (?) in the foreground.  It 'makes' the picture, leading your eye through it.

Hi Colin,

you've found a wonderful spot and your choice of BW treatment suites well to the mood of the scene. You've got a good eye and your composition is already good as it is, but imho cropping off some of the sky will strengthen it by moving the horizon line off center. Here is an edited version cropped to square framing where I also cropped off the side trees that were partially cropped by the edge. I hope you don't mind.

This picture in black and white is very strong. However, I must agree that I think it would be stronger if the horizon wasn't right in the middle. Since I find the ground much more interesting than the sky, I would crop the sky off a bit.

But very nice!
