brynot 0 Posted April 24, 2003 I think it would be improved if the sea side of the shot was more significant. Maybe a sunset or sunrise at that same spot. The forest side is much more interesting and busy. I think that would balance the shot better. Link to comment
krassi_zourkova 0 Posted April 24, 2003 A beautiful idea, and visually almost there. What I'd do to this is maybe pick a different divide for the two images, and not a tree (a tree belongs to the forest, and thus tilts the balance unnecessarily), maybe a thin black line? Also, with each image so wide you water down the effect, almost as if each is trying to break away and be a separate image. Maybe have each be much narrower, by about a half -- this way it will become a bit more abstract while at the same time getting closer to having two distinct ideas into a single image. It will also be like giving us a glimpse of each, rather than two full lanscapes... It definitely affects, though! Link to comment
markskelly 0 Posted April 24, 2003 Very good idea. At first glance I didn't realize it was a composite. I wonder if there is a place out there somewhere where a shot something like this exists naturally? My only criticism here would be that the separating tree is a bit distracting to me because of its blurriness. I'd like to see it just as sharp as the rest. Again, very creative idea. Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted April 25, 2003 I think this is a very interesting composition. The use of the trunk as a divider between the halves is just great. I'm kind of drawn to the contrast of the placid sea and the busyness of the forest but I'd agree with the earlier comment that something is needed in the sea half at least to serve as an anchor for the image. I like the idea you had for this and hope you explore this some more. Well done. Link to comment
wayne_young1 0 Posted April 25, 2003 This is great. I actually think the blurriness of the dividing tree *helps* the image - it gives it depth. If it was sharply in focus, it would flatten the overall image. Right now, my brain is doing back-flips trying to reconcile what is seeing - which is cool !!! :-) I like the stone in the water - it serves as a (small) anchor in the left half, perhaps if it were slightly bigger ? Maybe you could find an iceburg floting in the water to act as an anchor. This is very creative, well done. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted April 25, 2003 Aleksie, Neither image is spectacular on it's own but the merging idea is original. As suggested, keep trying with different images & perhaps give presidence to one instead of equal space for each. Best, LM. Link to comment
