alfbailey 4 Posted February 5, 2011 MICHAELYou seem to have connected with this image in much the same way that I did when I stood on the lake shore and looked through the viewfinder. Sincere thanks for your visit and encouraging words, much appreciated.Kind RegardsAlfFALAKMany thanks for your kind words and positive feedback, much appreciated.Best RegardsAlfMARJOLEINI deliberated about it long enough. "Do I really need it?" "Can I really justifty the cost" .......but in the end remembered something I was told, and that is "A moment enjoyed is never wasted" ..........You know you want it : -) ...........today is a good day to be kind to yoursellf. I shall look forward to seeing the results.Best RegardsAlfJORGMany thanks for your visit and positive feedback, it's the kind of place that does seem to beckon to me.Best RegardsAlfPAULSincere thanks for your encouraging words and posiitve feedback, very much appreciated.JIMI agree with your analogy, perfectly still water was what I was hoping for, but this was about the calmest it got, no sooner would the water surface settle to this degree, another breeze would whip up further ripples and it would seem to take forever to settle down again. I took a few shots while I waited for the calm, and consequently have images of the lake in varying states of wind movement. I have to be honest, I like all of them, but chose this one because the colours just seemed a bit richer somehow. I hope to process one of them as a B & W image too, that I think might look quite effective. Sincere thanks for your positive feedback Jim, I'm really pleased you liked it.Best RegardsAlf Link to comment

mweir2007 0 Posted February 8, 2011 Hi Alf,The best critique I can give you is I've been the Buttermere on several occasions but never seen it captured as beautifully as this, inspiring as always, best regards. Link to comment
whosecameraisforpix 0 Posted February 10, 2011 This is a very beautiful composition. I like the title which is very apt to the 'feel' of this image. Also, the horizontal plane dividing the fluid from the rising moutain gives it character. Overall a superb image and great work. Rgds- Sekhar Link to comment
tore 10 Posted February 10, 2011 I love this one too, the composition is spot on and the mirror effect is great and the environment is beautiful.Best regards Tore Link to comment

That is high praise indeed, but I don't think I could live up to "perfection" I'm bound to make a mess of the next one : - ) My sincere thanks for your generous comments and encouragement.Best RegardsAlfMARKSincere thanks for your interest and positive feedback. Buttermere is one of those locations that can be entirely transformed within minutes by the prevailing light. On one of the special journeys to this location, I arrived in the evening and the conditions were not right, light winds rippled the surface of the lake, so I decided to stop overnight, and climbed into the back of my "Astra Van" to get some sleep......what a nightmare! .....Suffice to say I didn't get much sleep, and neither did I get much in the way of photo's either, but I kept going back there.....the moral of the story.....persistance pays. Thanks again Mark,Best RegardsAlfGEORGEMany thanks for your visit and positive feedback, much appreciated!Kind RegardsAlfSEKHARSincere thanks for your interest and very encouraging feedback. I did debate the title of this image for a while, and struggled to find something appropriate without sounding too pretentious, so I'm pleased we are on the same wavelengh with that one.Best WishesAlfTORE Many thanks for your interest and valuable feedback, I'm really pleased you liked this.Best RegardsAlfGALLEGO Thank you for your interest and positive feedback, much appreciated!Kind RegardsAlf Link to comment
adan1 0 Posted February 11, 2011 The colors, clarity, symmetry and mood are nothing short of exquisite in this arresting composition. The converging slopes and the little stream help pull the viewer towards the center of the scene. Nirvanic is one adjective that I would use to describe this blissful picture. Link to comment
alfbailey 4 Posted February 12, 2011 I love that word "Nirvanic" I might have to steal that one and use it in one of my titles : - )I must admit this is one of my favourite locations, if you look at the large view you may be able to make out the tiny bench in front of the white cottage, I always imagine myself sitting there and just absorbing the surroundings.......ahhhh bliss indeed.Sincere Thanks for your comments and encouragement Adan.Best RegardsAlf Link to comment

deb1 0 Posted February 24, 2011 Alf This is simply stunning! It gives me such a sense of peace and tranquility viewing it! I can't even begin to imagine how it felt to see this in person as you framed it up in your viewfinder. I love how the center of the frame has the water flowing down from the mountain and into the body of water. Perfect composition in my opinion! deb Link to comment
alfbailey 4 Posted February 25, 2011 Sincere thanks for taking time to stop by and share your thoughts, I really do appreciate it.This is one of my favourite locations, there seems to be a photograph in every direction you look, though the light can be very tricky because of the surrounding hillsides causing so much contrast at times.Cheers Deb!Alf Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 310 Posted March 4, 2011 Great panoramic shot, at least looks like it! Subdued colors due to the lighting conditions, beautiful darker reflections and brighter mountain, sun lit obviously in the distance! Quite a moody spectacle! Technically (I saw it larger, of course) perfect! Well done Alf! Thank you for your recent visit!CheersPDE Link to comment
rekaras 0 Posted March 4, 2011 Absolutlely stunning panoramic shot and so well received by so many. The composition, reflective property and the muted tonality make for an incredible time to remember. Just terrific, kudos, rek. Link to comment
alfbailey 4 Posted March 13, 2011 PIERREMany thanks for your visit and positive feedback. This was taken with a 50mm prime lens, but such is the quality of the lens, it was relatively easy to crop it to a pano. I have had it printed too at 20" x 8" and I'm really pleased with the results.Cheers Pierre!Best RegardsAlfRICHARDSincere Thanks for your visit and vote of confidence, much appreciated. It's a shot I've waited a long to time for, and I have to say it was worth the wait.Best RegardsAlf Link to comment
aggiusti 72 Posted April 5, 2011 In this photo everything is in right place. I really like the lines that intersect at the center of picture, widescreen format, but most of all the colors and tones. A composition widely studied and effective. Thanks for comment on my photo, and greeting from Italy, Antonio Link to comment
