swede621 0 Posted January 31, 2011 Hello Alf,Hate to disagree with you but 1600 miles still sounds like a long way even if you say if quickly. Seems to have been worth it though. Definately needs to be seen larger to fully appreciate it. Super sharp and great muted colors. Another great shot.Cheers... Jerry Link to comment
alfbailey 4 Posted February 1, 2011 JACQUELINESincere thanks for your interest and very eloquent comments. This is one of my favourite locations, and even when I've visited the place and come away with nothing much in the way of photographs, the actual "being there" was worth every mile. Thanks again for your very encouraging words.Warmest RegardsAlfADRIENNEMany thanks for your visit and posiitve feedback. I agree it's the diagonals that draw the eyes to the centre line and eventually to that little cottage.....my dream residenceBest RegardsAlfBENMany thanks for your thoughts and positive feedback, much appreciated. I am in agreement with your anaology.Kind RegardsAlfKEITHSincere thanks for your thoughts and very encouraging feedback. I really appreciate your support.Cheers Mate!AlfKOUSHIKThank you fo r your interest and kind wordsBest WishesAlfRAMESHMany thanks for your visit and kind words, I tend to agree with you Ramesh, it was worth every mile.Best RegardsAlfELI think you touched on the very thing that drives me, "The Countryside" From the first time I had a glimpse of a green space (I was born in the City) It has never ceased to fascinate me, and I never feel quite at one with the world, unless I'm there soaking up the atmosphere and being part of it. Your astute anaolgy is 100% accurate, it does indeed continue to be a source of inspiration, the very gratifying thing about your positive feedback is that you "feel" it too through this image, and hopefully others also.My sincere thanks and warm regardsAlfAMRMany thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts, very much appreciated. I'm really pleased you liked it.Best RegardsAlfTRISHAMany thanks for your thoughtful comments and encouragement. This is one location you should include on your visit if at all possible, the whole area is incredibly beautiful.Best RegardsAlfHAMIDSincere thanks for your visit and in depth analogy, I appreciate your keen eye and positive comments. I don't know if it's a "perfect" photograph, it's certainly a perfect location, and your encouragement is heartwarming.Best RegardsAlfGRIGORIYMany thanks for your visit and very kind words, very much appreciated!Best RegardsAlfHUNGI will let you into a secret, this is the photograph that only 2 years ago I wished for the same thing, perseverence is the key. Many thanks for your interest and positive feedback.Kind RegardsAlfILKKAThank you Ilkka I'm very pleased you liked it.Best RegardsAlfRUUDMany thanks for stopping by, I really appraciate your kind comments.Best RegardsAlfJAMIEMany thanks for your shrewd analogy, I think it's true what they say "sometimes less is more"Best RegardsAlfVOLKER You have summed up this location perfectly in your description. I have admired your work on many ocassions and therefore know just how much we have in common, in terms of our love of landscapes and nature. It is therefore very gratifying to know that you feel the same way about this image and place that I do. In fact I know you would fall in love with this place as I have My sincere thanks for sharing your thoughts and those most encouraging words.Best RegardsAlfMARJOLEIN"Perseverence" a quality in a person that is sometimes "bloody annoying" (according to my wife) but pays dividends when it comes to photography : - ) I think the perseverence is linked directly to passion, I never have the same perseverence for errm say "washing the car" In fact I'm very easily deterrred, but I'm passionate about photography, once I get a vision of an image in my head, I won't give up until I have captured it with my camera. I think you have ticked all the boxes on the strong points of this shot, and I have to say they relay directly with my own thoughts. As for the D700 I love it, the full frame gives that extra quality that is noticeable, as well as some very useful features. The Nikkor 50mm F1.4G is a dream of a lens, not normally associated with landscape shots, but I have found that because of the excellent properties, I can crop into images without fear of losing any qaulity. I can't fault it to be honest. In fact I should use it much more than I do.Sincere Thanks for your visit and positive feedback Marjolein.Best RegardsAlfPATSYMany thanks for your visit and very encouraging comments.Best RegardsAlfNEILYou are the guy that would know everything about "effort" your crack of dawn persuits in the wilderness are evidence of that. So your comments are most gratifying. It really is a gorgeous place. Many thanks Neil!Cheers mate!AlfSANDRAMany thanks for sharing your thoughts and positive comments, you have highlighted all of the qaulities that also appealed to myself and it's gratifying to know we are thinking along the same lines. The little white building is a waterside cottage, on the large file I can actually zoom in and see a little bench outside from where I imagine the owners sit on a quiet night and have a glass of wine, look at the stars and know they are truly blessed.Cheers SandraAlfJOHNSincere thanks for your imput, I always value your thoughts and opinions, and yeah I agree it is best viewed large. I didn't think the pano type shot would show up too well in normal size, I uploaded it larger than normal so that some of the finer detail could be seen.Cheers JohnAlfHOLA JOAQUIN Sincero agradecimiento por sus palabras de aliento y comentarios positivosSaludos CordialesAlfTIBISincere thanks for your commendations, I really appreciate your thoughts and positive feedback. Now that would have been an interesting alternative title "Dynamic Tranquility" .......or possibly "Tranquil Dynamics" I'm really pleased you liked this one Tibi.Best RegardsAlfRICHARD Many thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. The place is indeed a haven of peace and tranquility. I'm kind of wishing I had one of those 360 degree camera's or stitching software that would show the rest of the views, because it's wall to wall picture postcard in this area. Thanks again Richard.Best RegardsAlfGRANT Sincere thanks for your support and encouragment, I'm really pleased you liked this one.Best RegardsAlfHARRY Many thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts, much appreciated! I'm really pleased you liked this one. My idea of hard work is getting out of bed to go to work and driving 20 miles. getting out of bed 2 hours earlier and driving 200 miles for a photograph somehow seems so much more palatable : - ) But yeah I know what you mean Harry and can't disagree with your sentiments.Cheers Mate!AlfLAWRENCESincere thanks for your positive feedback and encouraging words, much appreciated!Best RegardsAlfANABELA It's a truly beautiful location, a picture in every direction, it's just a case of waiting for that moment when all the elements combine and harmonise to allow such a scene to be captured. I got lucky this time : - )Sincere thanks for your positive feedback Anabela.Kind RegardsAlfVLADIMIRThats a very moving statement, I'm very honoured that you chose to make it about this image. Sincere ThanksAlfJERRYGood to hear from you I hope things are going well for you.Thankfully the 1600 miles was divided by 4, thats the amount of visits it took to find the right conditions. But if it took twice that I would have gladly done it, and would do it again with no hesitation.....after all some of the enjoyment is definatley in the persuit. Many Thanks Jerry I'm really pleased you liked this one.Best RegardsAlf Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted February 1, 2011 Alf.... You know, I'll bet if you make the trip one more time those little wavelets won't be there! LOL... Sorry, couldn't help that. This is superb actually. I particularly like the row of trees that both divide and define the landscape. As all have said, this is exceptional. Is this a stitched panoramic or a cropped shot? Impressive either way... Guest Guest Posted February 1, 2011 Aptly named and well presented the crop work here so very well the reflections and the browns and greens keep a warm rich tone to the overall image... This is a nice image and deserves praise.. MJ Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 1, 2011 So much been said here and this beautiful landscape image do deserved it all, its exposure is so well lit and of very highly skilled nature while the DOF is so powerful and the details are so fine, what I really enjoyed here is the combinations of original colors and tone which do add a great interest to the over all well thought off composition.Thank you my friend for sharing it and wishing you all of the best. alfbailey 4 Posted February 1, 2011 MIKE"One more time" ....thats what I kept telling myself too : - )Many thanks for your encouragement and positive feedback, much appreciated. I used a Nikkor 50mm f1.4G for this shot and was able to crop it and still retain a good quality. I'd love to have a go at "stitched panoramics" this would be an ideal location, a picture postcard in every direction, but alas I don't have the knowledge or the software.........yet! lolCheers MikeAlfMJThank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts, much appreciated. I'm really pleased you liked this one.Best RegardsAlfRASHED Good Evening!Thank you for your very generous comments and encouragement. The colours and reflections are an aspect of the image that I also found appealing when I was looking through the view finder, it's a beautiful location and I was very lucky to catch it just right.Best RegardsAlfDONNAI might draw the line at going for a swim, it was a bit on the chilly side for that .........besides if I got my kit off the birds might think I was a piece of bread : - )Thanks for looking in Donna I'm really pleased you liked this one!CheersAlfEVGENIMany thanks for your visit and positive feedback, much appreciated!Best RegardsAlf Link to comment

bob_belanger 1 Posted February 2, 2011 Must be seen larger to really appreciate. Lovely atumn tones, great time of day and a wonderful reflection, seems like it was worth the wait. Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted February 3, 2011 It takes my breath away - a superb shot and well worth the effort. I recently watched a PBS Art Wolfe travel show to Patagonia - Mt Fitz Roy, and he had to do a major trek into the area and he mentioned that 7 out of ten treks produce weather that is not conducive to photography. He allocated 3 days to one spot and they got lucky on the 2nd day. All the best, Link to comment
alfbailey 4 Posted February 4, 2011 BIRTEMany thanks for your supportive comments and positive feedback. I uploaded this image im a larger file than normal because of the pano format, just so that the detail could be better appreciated.Best RegardsAlfSARAHSincere thanks for your visit and kind words. The distant features across the lake kind of begs for the pano type of orientation, and as there isn't any real features in the foreground, this kind of shots works best in this location. Glad you like it!Cheers SarahAlfBOBGood to hear from you, I hope you are keeping well. It was deefinately worth the wait in my humble opinion too. I just love this location, just a shame its so far away or I'd spend a lot more time there. Thanks for your visit and positive feedback Bob.Best RegardsAlfALBERTOMany thanks for your visit and encouraging words.Best RegardsAlfTONYSincere thanks for your visit and positive feedback, much appreciated! Patience is not a virtue i'm blessed with in abundance, just as well I'm compensated with more than my fair of perserverance : - )I think maybe thats the key, to keep just trying, and your reference to the Art Wolfe travel show, would seem to underline this belief firmly.Best RegardsAlf Link to comment

JimCowan 0 Posted February 5, 2011 I really like what you have done here, the viewer is drawn into this lovely landscape by the converging angles. Yes this would have been nice with perfectly still water but the waves have created a lovely abstract effect which is very appealing. Beautifully done!Jim Link to comment
