Tugboat's prow

This is my first submission...

This tugboat belongs to the collection of the 'Musée Maritime' of La

Rochelle, France. After many years of 'drying' on the old slipway, it

was painted and it now floats next to a bigger boat in the Yacht bassin.

This photo is part of a serie of boat prows.

This photo was shot on film, with my Nikon F3 + 20mm lens + red

filter. It has not been digitally altered.

I love the color tones and it's very well composed also. The perspective it gives a very different dimension to the picture. Excellent work. Congratulations.

I can see where this would be part of a very interesting series.  This shows a surprising sleekness to what is not usually considered a glamorous type of vessel.  The wide lens helps.  Technically it's very nice.

As you're going for a straight-on symmetrical look, it probably would be good to center the subject perfectly, i.e. crop the right edge just a little.

I agree that I could make this photo symmetric by cropping a bit on the right (without loosing much interesting details).

I'm currently finishing preparing photos for an exhibit of 'prow faces' in a bar in La Rochelle (very local). I wish I could show you the selection on photo.net (currently limited to 5 photos) so you get a grasp of what I mean by a 'serie' on this theme.

@August : I love your Corsair 'single photo'. I'm not into planes, but I sure am into vintage stuff (Nikon F3 qualifies ? If not, Speed Graphic does ?). Nice pic...
