This image is at Jakarta Port Sunda Kelapa, have recently returned and

will be posting the latest as the port continues to change and to me lose

much of its charm. MJ

Thank you for the comment concerning the color saturation I did enjoy the same aspects sometimes we get lucky is all I can say and here is one of those lucky shots that we all stumble upon I think.  MJ

MJ, This is really wonderful and very reminiscent of Homer (Winslow, not the poet, though it is epic). The rhythm created by the boats and their masts and shadows is perfect. The richness of colors and textures is great.

Incredible final result! This image really the tells a story, suggest history and in a way mystery - for me at least. To cut a long story short, this photograph definitely achieves what you were after, which was to create a dramatic image of an otherwise quiet harbour scene, just before all hell breaks loose... One of your very best - compliments!

Actually, Makassar schooners (pinisi) are very photogenic. These brightly painted sailing ships are one of Jakarta's more unusual sights, at least for me. You were able to show their magnificence with this image. Composition and tone handling are excellent. Awesome work!

Fully agree that the sails are much nicer in Makasar.  I wanted you to notice this shot was done about 4 or 5 years back the black and white with the rain storm rolling in about a week ago see how they destroyed the old stone path with new concrete. I know that it is for work improvement but we lost a lot of history in that move...

Thanks but I think you are referring to the storm approach version as I have not done one in black and white of this shot which was done about 5 years ago.  But thanks most like the black and white work as it has great depth.. MJ

MJ,

Fantastic processing and a very unique composition! The lighting, details and approaching storm in the backgound, . . . Bravo! "Would love to see this one in print somewhere, someday!"
