Thank you for your interest and most generous comments. This was one of those rare occasions when all the elements conspired to work in harmony, I was just lucky enough to be viewing it behind a camera at the time.

When you encounter a superb image like this, one must stop, go over all of it and take it all in. And after the honeymoon, and when reality sets in, it still looks beautiful.  I looked to see if I could offer any technical advice, and there is nothing that I can offer. There are things that I might have done differently from an artistic perspective but if we were all doing exactly the same thing, then it would be a dull photographic world.

Would I have stepped into that icy cold water, move to the left and got a little lower to the water level and give a bit more prominence to the first snow covered rock? This is only a question in my mind and in no way detracts from an absolutely stunning image which I would give top marks.

Congrats

Sincere thanks for your visit and in depth analysis of my image. I really do appreciate your feedback. One of the pieces of advice that you kindly offered me was, to always try a "landscape" orientation as well as a "portrait" and vice versa, in order to give yourself options later on. This little gem of advice has stayed with me and therefore I have similar compositions to the one you have suggested.

But you are right, none of us would do things exactly the same, or indeed even process the image in quite the same way. I have stood shoulder to shoulder with friends both of us clicking away, and suprisingly few of our shots are the same. Thanks again Tony for your positive feedback.

Another excellent composition of a tranquil scene.  Again I see the similarity of a horizontal divide between water and mountain, albeit interpreted in a different setting. I like your 'style' and again a terrific image. Rgds - Sekhar

Sincere thanks for your interest and positive feedback, very much appreciated.  I see you have noticed a common theme in my images, and more pronounced in the last two, that being "water" as a major contributory element. I am always attracted to water, be it lakes, oceans rivers, streams, they all offer great photo opportunities in themselves, and by thier very nature attract other wildlife and people that in turn opens up more opportunities for a shot. Thanks again Sekhar.

Amazing capture! Perfect control of highlight and shadows. I also like the vertical composition in this beautiful image! Great work my friend!

Many thanks for your visit and positive feedback, very much appreciated!

Tony Hadley once gave me some great advise, he said something like..."If you take a landscape shot, always try and remember to take it in portrait orientation also, not only could it look better that way, but it's also more suitable as a magazine cover"  I don't always remember the countless bits of wisdom that are forthcoming on PN, but that was one that lodged firmly in the old grey matter.

What a superb landscape you have here Alf, with a great wide-angle perspective and strong composition. Post processing is brilliant too. Well done.

Many Thanks for your interest and positive feedback, much appreciated.

I often think that some of the best images are the ones that seem to require the least in the way of processing, and I didn't have much to do processiing this one.
