Good to hear from you I hope you are keeping well!.

Sincere thanks for your visit and positive feedback. I had a few images to choose from to post but this was amongst the ones I liked best and for the reason you mention, that little reflection..

Kind Regards

Alf

Many thanks for your interest and encouraging comments. The light was very transient, it changed by the second because of the swirling clouds, I just waited for an opportune moment when all the elements combined to allow the shot.

Thank you for stopping by and taking time to comment, much appreciated. Snow can be a bit tricky, but with the amount of wb control both in camera and in editing software these days, it isn't as much of a problem.......well as long as you don't burn out the whites that is.

Alf, This is absolutely stunning. The colors are brilliant. And I am most impressed that you put both feet into the icy cold water to get this! Well worth the effort.

This is absolutely stunning!  I could have sworn I commented on this before, but apparently I didn't hit the confirm button or something.  The scene is magnificent, made even more interesting by including the 'pillows' of snow in the foreground.  Very nice work, Alf!

Very intriguing photo, I am drawn to the mountains and the river rock covered in snow. Nicely done, thank you for sharing. Also thanks for your comments on my Barnegat Bay photo, your suggestion about the water was very helpful. I tried to redo it, with mixed results. Regards, Bob

I used a Nikkor 16 - 35mm 1: 4G ED Brilliant sharp lens

16mm 1/60th sec @ f22 Tripod. I got down low and kept the lens level to try and minimise any barrel distortion.

Many thanks for your interest Jamie.

just a little suggestion.  you'll get significant diffraction blur at f/22, and you don't need that much depth of field at 16 mm.  if you're out there again, try f/8, f/16, and f/22.  f/8 will almost certainly be sharpest.  could you have a look at my latest four.  i'm trying to choose which to include in my blur tutorial.  best, j

Yeah I think your suggestion is spot on, though I'm more inclined to go with f11 or f16 .......But I will try f8 simply because it's not a setting I'd normally use and now you've got me curious. The f22 setting I used here was to try and level out the light, there was some really bright spots and I thought this might work, I think it did to some extent. Thanks for your positive imput and feedback Jamie.

Hello Alf,

I commented on this yesterday but it didn't show up.  Probably forgot to confirm it.  It is already in my favorites folder.  One of your best so far IMO.  Superb lighting.  Everything is spot on IMO.  Did you use a polarizer?

Cheers...

Many Thanks for looking in, and for all your support and positive feedback, much appreciated!

I didn't use a polarisor on this ocassion, but maybe I should have, and probably would have if I hadn't been standing in 12" of water. (The filter was in my backpack, and difficult to get at without putting the backpack on the ground first) I think the polarisor would have enhanced the submerged rocks to a greater degree. Theres a lesson there for me......."always put your filters in your pocket" I'm very honoured you have considered it a favourite Jerry Thank you!

It is too hard to find the right words in order to express my opinion here, this image is what called Perfect Work, every element contained inside this frame work, work with each other remarkably, your exposure is so well balanced and the amazing DOF obtained maximum details all over, the clouded sky and its reflections in the water along with mountains layers is another add to the well engineered composition of this well presented image.

Thank you my friend for sharing it and wishing you all of the best.
