I have to say I'm more than a bit envious of this shot, I have seen these birds on numerous ocassions on fishing trips, but never when I've had a camera any where nearby.  I even had one sat 6ft away from me on my fishing rod..........but alas no camera at that time.  This is sharp colourful and well defined, I think a portrait crop might look better, but thats just personal taste.

No need for you to envy, next time you go fishing just take a camera too. As for the crop, well, I wanted that plant in and I wanted the look that is reminiscent of Chinese writing.
