J,

Your exposure and focus are excellent. You have good contrast and color saturation.

Be careful of the reflections in her eyes. You have a lot of reflection in the whites of her eyes.

It would be better if her head was turned a little more towards the camera if she is going to make eye contact with the camera (viewer). It is best to have at least some of the whites of her eyes showing on each side of her irises. This helps to make her eyes look balanced.

Her pupils are a little dilated. If you use brighter modeling lights or have a brighter area to shoot her in, her eyes will not become so dilated.

It would have be nice to have more distinct catchlights on her irises.

A little more eyeliner under her eyes would have framed them and helped to make them stand out even more.

You may have used a lighter background, used a background light or a hair or backlight to have better separation of your subject with the background. It is just personal taste. If you had moved in closer it wouldn't have mattered.

Composition wise your image is a little right heavy. You could crop a tad off the left side for better left and right compositional balance.

I think you have too much of the fan showing. I assume you want this to emphasize her eyes. To me it is more a photograph of a fan with a girl behind it. I would not have had the fan covering as much of her face. Seeing as how you have it up to her eyes, I would move in much closer and put the emphasis on the eyes.

I tried to put more emphasis on her eyes in my crop.

Nice shot,

Mark
