I love the simplicity of this.  My preference is to have placed the tree off to the left and also include the entire shadow.  But this is still very effective in creating a mood with impact.  Nice work.

Ryan, I think I prefer this tighter shot relative to the broader landscape version; this just has an intimacy that I like.  It's good that you got the tree framed against the shadow of the hill -- that really helps to distinguish the white in the tree.  I also would like the tree slightly to the left, both for the aesthetics of the tree as well as to get the entire shadow of the tree.  Nice shot, though.
