stp 6 Posted December 17, 2010 For me, this has a very cold, bleak, austere look to it (monochrome, gray skies, bit of snow, empty foreground, silhouette buildings/silos?). If that was your intention regarding nuclear power (as evidenced by the cooling tower in the background spilling steam into the sky), then I think you've done an excellent job. Some may argue against the centered tower, but I suspect you were working for an angle that included all of these buildings, and I think it's fine. The fact that it is so far in the background and you have so much empty foreground makes the centered tower more "acceptable" (IMO). Link to comment
Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted December 18, 2010 This is an unusual and effective image. Nice eye in seeing it and composing it. I agree with Stephen's comments above. Also, the image may benefit from reducing the noise in the sky. Nice work. Link to comment
samschnieders 1 Posted December 20, 2010 Thanks for the comments - I did try the sky smoother, with less noise, but didn't like the effect as much - it sort of took away from my brusque feeling about the subject - but that's just me. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted December 20, 2010 Sam, I'm thinking the same thing about the noise in the sky. I hadn't noticed it until Larry made mention of it. While we usually like to reduce such noise, for this image I think it works very well. It just adds to the grittiness of the scene, which I think is what you were after. Link to comment
