kahkityoong 0 Posted December 5, 2010 A river of crystal clear aquamarine water carves its way into the rock resulting in some cool formations, cascades and pools. Sunset shot after a night of snow. The discrepancy in colour between sky and water is real and not due to filtration. Link to comment
thomaswelborn 0 Posted December 5, 2010 Really great shot. Love the composition and colors. With all of the filtration used, how long was the exposure? TGW Link to comment

whydangle 0 Posted December 6, 2010 Wonderful use of contrasting colors. As far as the color of the water and the color of the sky, looks just fine to me. To my eye, the upper portion of the scene, especially the peaks, the foliage and the rocks above the water appear excessive in contrast, with deep blacks, while the bottom of the stream has no blacks. It makes the scene top heavy exposure wise from my perspective. The thumbnail grabbed me, but when I saw the tar-like blacks in the mid range of the scene, it failed. So much detail in the water and rocks of the stream and then deep blacks with limited detail in the distance looks out of balance to me. Of course, it could just be me! Link to comment
kahkityoong 0 Posted December 6, 2010 Mark there is naturally more blacks in the midground and peaks, these are known as the Black Cuillins. However I think you're right about the balance and I'll add a bit more contrast in the foreground to match. Thanks for your commentary. Link to comment
