pradeep satyaprakash 0 Posted April 15, 2003 Wonderful texture and shadow, little too dark on left cheek, off-balance Link to comment

ant_myth 0 Posted April 16, 2003 Love the tone, and the landscape effect you got from this framing! Link to comment
alfredo_saavedra 0 Posted April 18, 2003 Love the lighting effect. I'm not crazy about the lack of focus, it's distracting. It looks like the lack of sharpness has more to do with low ambient light/lack of tripod than a calculated effect. The study of light itself though is superb. Link to comment
dthoms 0 Posted April 18, 2003 Whether for good or ill, I wanted the picture diffused. I used an on camera filter. Here is the same picture without. Link to comment
dthoms 0 Posted April 18, 2003 This is actually a color picture. The lighting was meant to simulate b&w. I guess that part works. :) Link to comment
alfredo_saavedra 0 Posted April 19, 2003 Donald, I much prefer the one without the diffuser. The skin texture, the studied light reflexion and the unusual angle all combine to make a very good picture. The color nature of the original picture also adds an interesting texture. Thanks for letting us compare your two approaches. What ASA did you use? Link to comment
dthoms 0 Posted April 19, 2003 It was very bright in the room at the time of the photo, so the strobes were set very high. Link to comment
