Very unique, original, and carefully put together PP. When I see a piece like this, I think to myself how great it is, but also wonder if something so "off the wall" will be appreciated by everyone else too. Then, when I look at the ratings, I find out sadly, that this is not the case. Then I ask myself, "if its not your taste - why bother to rate it so badly - just move on to something you can relate too..."

I say this because for what it is - it is a masterpiece. A true work of art created by a very talented photo-artist, as evident by the entire portfolio. Something I admire and respect greatly. This piece is fantastic, like so much of your other work. There is nothing to criticise, without it simply becoming "taste vs. taste" and how can one argue about taste - one cannot. Only one conclusion then for me, for such a magnificent piece of work, and that is a perfect rating. Because for the intent and purpose of what it is, there is not a flaw to be found. Beautiful.

Excellence shown,  yet again.

I really appreciate your input, but as you say, one can not argue taste!

This was sort of an experiment for me, finding a file that has been lying "dead" on my hard disk...I find that going through earlier work, and trying to find solutions and ideas can be rewarding.
Thanks for noticing:-)

I share the view of the previous poster.  This truly is a beautiful artistic rendition. I love everything about it. The pose, the composition, the post processing treatment, the tones.  It really is a fantastic image. Regards - michel

5.3 isn't a low average score, but yes, I also think it belongs to the 6+ category.

Ratings aside, one thing that looks odd is model's right breast: it seems devoid of areola and nipple, which is not the case in s h i n e -- is that an indication of how thick the layer of plaster is?  :O

Excellent, I love it too, bravo.

As for the rating system, it is total nonsense. It's only use is in raising the visiblity profile of a photo by placing it on the charts.

I fully agree with John.  The rating system here is not worth using.  For years there has been someone who looks for nudes and gives them a low rating.  He admitted it to me once.  I can think of any number of better ways to do it.  The fastest way to get it changed is to set up your images to not permit numerical rating.  As more and more of us do that the greater the possibility of change.

I am interested in knowing more about this technique - what actually was applied to the model, etc. Perhaps you could make a list of steps, etc. We can call it the Aasen Technique.

As far as this image goes the upper head and arms are superior but I am bothered by the raised knee.  I presume you did more than one such image.  Post a whole folder full of them.

Jerry

Jerry: When it comes to the steps used here, I am close to having no idea:-). I just tried different things, and tried to find out what worked the best. But I can try...
First of all, I croped this because the lower part was not top. She has silver body paint. After, I desaturated a lot, and retouched her nipple just to get a more robotic feel. I then tried out three or four different textures, and kept two, and then desaturated again.
Finally, I added a color effect to get the green/blue tint.
I will see of there are more images from this shoot that could look good in a similar style:-)

Appreciate the words:-)
