jim_air 0 Posted November 30, 2010 I can virtually recall my thoughts as I quickly looked at this. The first, was the image looks like something Alf would produce (but had not cottoned on at that stage that is was yours). Then I thought - a bit much lake at the front - then viewed larger and saw why. As did one or two others - I wondered why "Nessie" appears :-) Then, I thought, perhaps he has joined some mystical society and this is the secret sign !I love the detail in the hotel (interesting architecture), positioned just in the right spot. Love the contrast of the mist and the clear water, the reflections too. The bits of yellowed grass finish it off nicely.Cheers, Jim Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted December 1, 2010 So much been said here and this amazing image image deserve it all.The mood and atmosphere along with the clouds touching the mountains on the background really makes this image so pleasant to view. I am very impressed with how you balanced your exposure to cover correctly all of the different zones of the frame work and the place you positioned the house to bring out such a remarkable composition. Outstanding work my friend, thank you for sharing it and wishing you all of the best. Link to comment
tonyfrench 0 Posted December 1, 2010 Alf a really wonderful landscape. I love the estate being the focal point, giving the land around it a context, or vice versa. The fog gently settling into the tree tops is a beautiful touch. Link to comment
daveinwilton 1 Posted December 2, 2010 A very beautiful shot Alf. The atmosphere and subdued colors are marvelous. The image is nice in this small size, but one does not really get the full feeling until the image is opened "Large". Personally the only change I might entertain other than the horizontal level, might be a little less foreground water. I really like the structures in the water in front of the hotel perhaps they would become more evident. But then again... Strong work. Best regards...-Dave Link to comment

Brrrr Bala was cold at the weekend coming home -11c, still some interesting star images.Cheers John.AlfILKKAMany thanks for your visit and kind words, much appreciatedRegardsAlfJIMSincere thanks for your thoughts and first impressions, they are really important and give me a great insight as to peoples first reactions. As for removing "Son of Nessie" from the image.....well that mystical society, otherwise known as The Scottish Heritage Trust, dictate the following: -"Any person or persons found willingly and deliberately defacing, obscuring, mutiliating or transforming any image of a registered Scottish Monster, shall be taken forthwith to a place of indigestion and forced to eat large quantities of Salty Porridge, until such time as the person or persons proclaim abstinance from such activities in writing"I just couldn't risk it JIm! : - )Cheers Mate!AlfALBERTOSincere thanks for your visit and encouragement, I hope you are keeping well!Best RegardsAlfJOAQUINMany thanks for your visit and posiitve feedback, much appreciatedBest RegardsAlfRICHARDMany thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate your imput!Kind RegardsAlfJERRYThank you for stopping by Jerry, I always look forward to your honest appraisal, and I'm really pleased you liked this one. Much appreciated. If I have a favourite part of this shot it would be the tips of the pines as they appear in the mist.Best RegardsAlfTONY Many thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts, much appreciated! Yeah I love those misty tree tops too!Cheers Tony!AlfDAVE Good to hear from you, and thank you for sharing your thoughts, positive comments. I think I would have opted for less water if I'd had a longer lens, but as I've cropped into the image already I chose to try and keep the quality to some extent, but yeah Ideally I think i'd have made those structures more of a feature with a closer shot.Cheers Dave!Alf Link to comment

harlequin 0 Posted December 3, 2010 Beautiful landscape complete with monster in the Loch. I like the overall feel of the shot with the low hanging cloud cover, the manse and the reflection. Well seen and shot. Could possibly be cropped a little tighter on the bottom and the left side. - Charles Link to comment
3m 0 Posted December 4, 2010 I guess that one needs to reserve a long time in advance at this lovely place, just judging by all the comments above ;-) Really wonderfully captured by you, Alf..! It has a real dream-like appearance to it. I like the way you composed it with the loch given pre-eminence, and the house on the right middle center, perfectly framed by the trees beyond. The mist adds to that dreamlike feeling. Best regards, Marjolein Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted December 5, 2010 SARAH Many thanks for your interest and positive feedback, lucky hotel owner indeed! I think I'd settle for a job washing the dishes, the pay in monetary terms won't be much, but what a stunning bonus when you look out the window : - )Cheers Sarah!AlfVLADIMIRSincere thanks for your visit and kind words, very much appreciated.Best RegardsAlfPATSYThank you for sharing your thoughts, I really appreciate your views and kind words, I'm very pleased you liked it.Kind RegardsAlfHARRYMany thanks for stopping by, and for your vote of confidence, very much appreciatedBest RegardsAlfCHARLES Sincere thanks for your visit and positive feedback, it could be cropped a bit tighter I agree, but there is an arguement that would decree that the more open view gives a better perspective of the surroundings.Kind RegardsAlfMARJOLEIN Many thanks for your visit and very eloquent description, it does have a certain mystical appeal, and is very much what I envisioned through the viewfinder, thankfully sometimes they turn out as expected.Best RegardsAlf Link to comment
Donna Stavis 0 Posted December 5, 2010 Alf, Beautiful -- artistic work, pastel colors, mist and light-- and interesting how the wooden squiggles sticking from the water like a grain in a pearl-producing oyster foil the ethereal light and landscape enriching the whole. Link to comment
vickifrance 0 Posted December 6, 2010 mmmmm soft and beautiful, colors are fantasy like and the Lochness monster in front is great. Is this a private home? No wonder you feel in love. Link to comment

Alex 0 Posted December 8, 2010 What a terrific image you got here. I like the compostion a lot and the great semi mysterious look with the background fog. The object in the water right by the hotel reflection looks like the creature of the black lagoon :)Fantastic JobAlex Link to comment
