Kharlamov,

Beautifully done photo illustration. I love the way you have emulated a pencil drawing. There is excellent sharpness, catchlights, lighting, composition, cropping, background and specular highlights on her lips. Even though your camera angle is below eye level, this is an extremely impressive image.

It bothers me a bit that she is not looking where her head is pointing. If not making eye contact with the camera (viewer), the eyes should follow the line of the nose. It is natural to look where your head is pointing. If looking off to the side you should show what she is looking at or provide a reason that she is not looking where her head is pointing. Her eyes would look more balanced if there was whites on both sides of her irises.

Even though you have made this portrait appear to be similar to a pencil drawing, it is still a photograph. As such, your name could be properly placed on the mat. Hand signing a photograph is quite appropriate to distinguish it as a work of art if the purchaser wishes it done or even if it is on display and for sale in a gallery. Even in a gallery I would ask the purchaser if  he or she wanted it signed before I actually hand signed it.

Nice shot,

Mark

Mark! Thanks for the substantial comment. I appreciate your criticism! The sight aside at the girl, speaks about its pensiveness, about romantic thoughts. Therefore I would not like to adhere it to the spectator. This work is a retouch on a photo which I have made. I photographed the girl, therefore the authorship belongs to me and consequently on this work there is my signature. http://kharlamov.net/fullview.php?id=224

I like this portrait very much. Her gaze out of the frame makes me feel she is look at, or for something that she longs for. The wind blown hait is particularly effective with the way it has blurred on the ends giving a sense of motion. The "look" of the image works nicely for me considering the subject and mood. Well made!

It looks to me more a painting than a photograph, it is excellent, a fine piece or art. (My doubt is in her teeth , because her eyes look quite sharp for a photograph but her teeth look more like a painting) well done and best wishes // Salvador
