I like a lot the composition and colors.

The diagonally placed layers provide a progression that in parallel with the passing from foreground on the lower left towards the misty horizon on the upper right also traverse almost the entire color spectrum like through a rainbow.

And then of course the column with the two roads leading to it , the people walking, the lake and the island tell a story of their own.

It is interesting also that there is a second progression, orthogonal to the "rainbow" one that starts with the road on the far right, reaches the column and then goes on with the island and the green slope on the upper left side.

Best Regards,

Many thanks for your visit and and kind words, I'm really pleased you liked it. Scotland is indeed a beautiful place, for anyone that hasn't been here, I can recommend a visit. There can't be too many places that look so good in the rain.

Sincere thanks for your visit and positive comments, much appreciated.

Gary and I  have to be careful that we don't post the same shots : - )

I was in that group at Keswick, but, unfortunately  I didn't realise who you were at that time : - (  But hopefully our paths will cross again, there is every chance as we go to the lakes quite a lot during the winter months.

Cheers Harry

Many thanks for your visit and positive feedback. Your "rainbow" analogy is particularly pleasing as it was such a dull day that capturing any dynamic colour was quite a challenge. I see what you mean about the right to left progression also, you have a very astute "eye".

Fantastic viewpoint, finding these positions is all what it's about! The beautifully lit and colourful foreground  leading towards the monument is very impressive but the background with it's cold uninviting mist and fog is maybe similar to the hidaways that Charlie would head for in his quest for survival...Bravo!

Many thanks for your thoughts and positive feedback. I agree the right perspective can be the key, though finding it is sometimes a puzzle. Theres no shortage of hiding places up here for Charlie, but survival, ahhh now thats a different matter : - )

Another stunning shot, Alf I continue to be impressed by your ability to make such grand images in difficult conditions.  The tone of this shot is excellent as is the composition.  IMO the boardwalk is also important - not only as a leading line but also to add scale via your two mates.  Without them I would not know the size of the statue.

Cheers...

Good to hear from you, I hope you are keeping well.

Sincere thanks for your thoughts and positive comments. You have raised a good point with regards to scale, very often I see beautiful landscapes, but find it difficult to guage the scale, this is where a human element in the landscape can be helpful.

Sincere Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts, much appreciated. The mist was a constant companion for three days, and although it was a pain in some respects, it did add a certain atmosphere to soem shots too.

Thank you for your positive feedback. The vantage point was about the best available that day I think, I thought maybe the mist would work against me, but it seemed to add a good deal of atmosphere to this scene.

It is a fantastic location, the day we were there is was wet and misty, but the colours were still vibrant. I intend to go back there in October this year, hopefully get soem better weather. I liked the colours you used in your version and the slightly wider view.

Alf
