christopherhall 0 Posted November 29, 2010 Some fun with vaseline and a paintbrush on a UV filter. Thanks for looking. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted November 29, 2010 There are probably a lot of variations that could be tried. In my mind, this is sort of like shooting in fog, and in those situations I find that having a nearby object that is not so affected by the fog, along with more distant objects in which the effect of the fog is very pronounced, often results in an effective composition. You might want to try that with the vaseline, with some parts of the filter less influenced than other parts. I've also read of one photographer who, when shooting long exposures (several seconds or more), will spray a fine mist of water on the filter during the last stages of the exposure to create a soft effect -- that might be interesting to try as well. tschoeller 0 Posted December 1, 2010 Well, I have to say this makes for a most effective abstract in nature. Ethereal & mystical. I have created interesting impressionist images while shooting landscapes in the rain and allowing the drops to accumulate on the filter. I like this effect you created, and the perfect subject and composition. Link to comment
