I really like this effect, the combinations of textures and warm colour are really very pleasing to the eye.  I have tried to achieve this effect by using a slow exposure and moving the camera in a slow arc upwards but with limited success. Is that the technique you have used here? If not I'd really appreciate a few clues of how you achieved this effect? It's a brilliant creation!

Sincere Compliments and Warm Regards

Alf

Excellent use of effect, it well match impressionist's art work. Thanks for sharing and your comments on my recent works. With all my best, Grigoriy.

Beautiful work, Pamela. I very much like the rhytm of colours and strips. I also recently discovered the technique and found this quite interesting play. I am not very successful yet, but your final result is absolutely great and beautiful.

The beauty of Autumn is not only in the obvious changes to the seasonal landscape but also in our personal feelings that this all too short season brings to the surface.  Impressionistic images allow the viewer more room for interpretation based on their individuals point of view.  Looking at your image, I see warmth and mystery.  I think the vertical lines provide a sense of security or stability, yes things are changing but in the end all will be well.  A very beautiful creation!

Alf,

Thank you for the encouraging words, I always look forward to hearing from you! I am no expert at this technique but find that the more I experiment the better my images  ;) it's all in the movement...but that is easier said than done in many cases. I find that it's a quick movement, not a slow exposure or slow movement that works the best when I achieve my best image. This was shot with a 70-200L non IS lens at 70mm, f/10, ISO 200, 1/30s. The movement was from bottom to top and I find that with trees or long lines that this works best for me. I know you are uncomfortable with hand holding but lose the tri-pod. Hope that this helps and I look forward to seeing what you come up with!

Warm regards, Pamela

Grigoriy,

Thank you for the kind comment and your support. I am always happy to hear from you and glad that you like this. This is something I still need to work on but find I get better every time I play around with this technique.

Warmest regards, Pamela

Gunnar,

Thank you for the kind words of encouragement, I keep trying to perfect this particular technique and find my skills are getting better but not quite where I want them yet! I appreciate that you stopped by and I personally thought your image was very pleasing and well done  ;)

Warmest regards, Pamela

Jim,

Your critique is well put and very thoughtful...it really does express many of my own feelings about the autumnal season. My favorite time of year, so crisp, vibrant color and whimsical leaves swirling around. I looked at this clump of trees for quite awhile, no real interest for a photo, just a bunch of trees but the lighting and colors were mesmerizing. What could I do to capture what my eyes were seeing and still come away with something interesting. That is why I used this technique in the hope of capturing something of this moment I was finding so beautiful. Thank you for stopping by.

Warmest regards, Pamela

There is something charming and inviting here. The golden glow of light? The sense of a limitless space? Whatever it is, it sets my mind in a better mood :)

Hi Pamela,

nice to see you experiment some, I really like this image, I would crop a little off the top and a little off the bottom, drawing you more into the trees and removing some distraction and giving the shorter aspect ratio for print.

Its a very nice abstract, well done and best wishes.

Thank you for the description on technique and technical details that you gave to Alf. I seldom if never try this type of photography but at least now I have a clue as to how to do so if I want to take a chance.

I came to your site looking for your shots like this.  I've recently done a few, and I got my inspiration from you.  Unfortunately, I hadn't read your description above before I experimented, so I had a lot of really bad shots.  But eventually I came up with some decent results.  Like you, I find that trees or lots of repeat patterns work the best.  I really like the result of this, and thanks for the inspiration!
