Donna Stavis 0 Posted October 17, 2010 Nice photo. My heart goes out to this man. Everything about him looks artsy and carefully crafted -- the beautiful Hebrew print on the sign, and lovely box up top, -- everything, yet look what he is reduced to. Interesting how the woman looking this way draws attention, not negatively, but if you had cropped it, so we didn't see their heads, they would fade into the background. Ben Yehuda Street, I imagine Link to comment
myattphotoandfotoart39 1 Posted October 17, 2010 The sign is the reason and only reason that I took this photo. Otherwise, to me, it is just another 'ho-hum" photo of a guy asking for coins. Who the fuck ever says "I wish you happiness"? Even with the translation, the photo did not make the points I tried to convey. The "lovely box" is a decorated plastic ice cream container (you are familiar with). The one word on top the box which I can read in the photo is תודה "thank you". I did not see the mother-daughter. I was in fact trying to snap with no one in the background. Now I'm pleased they are there. Yes, Ben Yehuda, after my Friday French-Toast breakfast that you know about. I walked from the 'old city', stopped at an ATM on Ben Yehuda and now (when I see him) I'm on my way to a bustop on George Street and hoping the bus won't be crowded. Make you homesick?
