Thanks Alberto. I took quite a few pictures to get one that I like enough. I sat the camera on the tripod and set it to manual focus and I was using a remote control to trigger the camera.  Between the pictures I crop either my son or my self out and the out of focus I'm sure happy I use a digital camera. Otherwise I would have sepnt more than one 36 roll of folm for sure.

Thanks for your comment.

I've tried many times to get an acceptable picture due to the fact that I

was triggering the camera with the remote control and often enough I

ended up out of focus out partially out of the frame.

After many attempts I kept this one.

Thanks for your comments.

Very sweet portrait made even more wonderful knowing this is a self-portrait! They are so hard to get clear and sharp! Very well done! Thank you for sharing this very tender view of father and son! :)

What a wonderful and touching image!  The emotional connection comes through loud and clear.....the love is palpable!  I love that you both have caps on, and that the kiss isn't quite completed, which reveals all of the facial features and that adorable pucker of your son.  If I were to be really picky, I'd like to see a bit more light in 2 places.....right under your cap I'd like to see a slight separation between your forehead and the background......and the same with your right shoulder.  But this is one of the sweetest images I've seen in a long time, and on that I'm off to bed!  :-)

Saluti Paul

A lovely shot full of candid affection. Your young son is a sweetheart and it is not always easy to attain such results when you are in control of the camera.  Well done Alex.  Beautiful child.  sincerely, Gail

After a break I`m back on the PN again. This is a very beautiful father and son image. Perfectly lit and exposed giving those clear crisp sharp naturell colours. A very touching portrait done with love and photographic skills.

Take good care dear Alex and all the best to you and your family from Jannica

Very touching moment, excellent lighting and wow what a great self portrait! You have a huge talent in self portraits that is quite inspiring. I am betting that you have had to take many bad shots to figure out how to get the great ones you present here on PN. Do you use a monitor that you can see while posing or is it blind and something you need to set up just right before jumping into the frame with your remote?

Warm regards, Pamela

Thanks to all of you for your kind comments. My son does no usually cooperate with pictures, this is one of those rare occasions.

PAMELA the way I normally do this kind of pictures is with a tripod mounted camera set to manual mode. I adjust the lighting and exposure so is enough to give me an F7.1 or F8. Then I put a piece of tape on the floor and set a light stand or anything that will be right on top of the tape that could aid with focusing. I then focus the lens with on the light stand, switch it to manual mode and that is it. With the remote trigger I shoot a few pictures and make sure that my face is somewhere in the same plane as the tape in the floor.

That is what I love about digital it does not matter how many frames I have to shoot since I cost me nothing and I can learn a lot about lighting and bla bla bla.

Regards

Alex

Alex,

Thank you for taking the time to explain how you accomplish these self images. I appreciate the little lesson. I am always trying to learn new techniques especially with lighting!
