Peveril Castle, Dawn, Castleton

After 3 dawn rises to try and capture this composition with warm light

flooding into the valley from the east I was finally rewarded. I didn't

expect the light to travel so nively up the valley and catch all the rocks-a

pleasing bonus. I decided to opbscure the sky to concentrate on the

action here and I hope this has worked. Comments welcome.

I like the composition but for me its too over saturated but that's just my particular take on it. Otherwise its very nice.

Alexander, did you enhance the saturation, or is this how you captured it?

Very nice detail - especially the rocks and the mist in the upper right. It would be interesting to see this desaturated a bit....but as is, I like it very much.

Thanks everyone, yes, it has come out very (over)saturated-more than it was post processing and on my screen.  Good lesson learnt in how colours appear!

That's one of the main problems when up-loading a photo: changes in color saturation.  I usually lose saturation, but either way, it can be frustrating because it doesn't show what you intended.

I like the aspect ratio you've chosen.  The distribution of light is great -- bright source of the sun in the upper right, then cascading over the landscape in a series of shadows.  The tree on the right is high enough to catch the light and break up what would otherwise be a continuous shadow area.  Nicely done.
