John: The lighting, helps give the colors a very soft feel.  I do think her shoulder is a little distracting, maybe a little masking and a levels adjustment would help.  Tom

Wow! You caught this one just right. The focus is on the eyes and very sharp. The hat is slightly soft, framing the face. The background is a pastel and keeps focus on the face. The exposure minimizes skin imperfections. Even the molding on the wall is a "V" shap leading the eye to your subject.

You other pictures of children are very good, but this is the best.

Wonderful portrait.  I think most portraits that I see are about how pretty the model is.  This one is no exception but her skin is wonderfully smooth and well toned.  Also the angle gives her a sense of stature as well and the eyes pop.  Overall, I like this very much and I usually don't comment on portraits because I fell like I'm rating the beauty of the model, I still think she's beautiful but I also like the portrait ver much.
